When Is a Workplace Injury More Than Workers' Comp?
If your workplace injury was caused by someone other than your employer, then you can bring a suit against that person or entity as a personal injury claim.
This is called "third party liability," and
it is not subject to limits like a normal workers'
comp claim. Third party liability law applies, if
your job site accident was caused by:
- Dangerous or defective machinery purchased from an outside business
- An employee of another contractor – like on a construction site
- Faulty safety equipment installed by an outside business
- A motorist, if you were in an auto accident while driving for work
- In Connecticut, an injury caused by a fellow employee with a motor vehicle
- Injuries caused by dangerous or defective equipment
Was the Accident Your Fault? You May Still
Be Able To Recover.
For injury cases that involve dangerous machinery in Connecticut and Rhode Island, special "comparative liability" laws apply. Contact us for more information on how this may apply in your case.
We recommend that you find an attorney as soon as you can, even if it is not with our firm. The longer you wait, the greater the chance that important information will be lost.
We will work hard to hold people and companies
responsible for injuries caused by their
carelessness.
